Residence Hall Closings for Winter Break

Please adhere to the following information regarding Winter Break:

Be safe and enjoy your winter break
East Campus Village, Payne, and Reed Halls will be open for residents to remain on campus if they like for winter break. The Health Science Campus and Family and Graduate Housing will also remain open. Whether you are planning to stay on campus or choosing to leave for the winter break, please be safe.

Building 1516, Boggs, Brown, Brumby, Church, Creswell, Hill, Lipscomb, Mary Lyndon, Mell, Morris, Myers, Oglethorpe, Russell, Rutherford and Soule Halls will be closing at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014The halls will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015.

Closing Checklist

Before leaving, make sure to:
  •   Take your prescription medications and other essentials
  •   Close and lock all windows
  •   Close window blinds
  •   Remove all trash from your room
  •   Defrost your refrigerator and remove all perishables
  •   Turn off all lights
  •   Lock your door

Your room will be inspected by staff to ensure that you have completed the
steps outlined on the checklist. Failure to follow the above checklist may result in a policy violation.

Failure to vacate your residence hall by noon on Friday, December 19, may result in a $25 late checkout fee or a policy violation.

Failure to remove trash from your room and dispose of it properly will result in a $25 trash removal fee.

This is important information

Your mail will not be forwarded during winter break.  If you are expecting an important package or letter, make all arrangements to assure that you receive it no later than Thursday, December 18th

Please note that you will not have access to the halls after they close on Friday, December 19, 2014; so please make sure to take with you what you will need for the break.

Your Resident Assistant, along with other residence hall staff in your community, should be able to answer any questions that you may have. 

If you have further questions about winter break closing, be sure to contact your RA or your Community Office.

Cancellation Notice:
Residents who will not be on campus spring 2015 due to graduation, study abroad, internship, etc. must complete a termination agreement before leaving for the winter break in the Housing Assignments Office located 116 Russell Hall (first floor).

Step Up to the Plate!

There is still time to step up to the plate and fill out a C.L.A.S.S. advocate or resident assistant staff application. Applications are due December 18th at 5 p.m. Before you apply, check out this video about CA-RA life:

In order to apply, you must:
1. Fill out an online application
2. Submit a personal statement of interest
3. Submit two letters of recommendation

Those applying to be a CA-RA must attend an information session to be eligible to apply.  Please bring your UGACard with you to the information session so that we may record your attendance. 

There are TWO mandatory information sessions left to attend:
December 4, 2014…………………… 5-6:30 p.m. MLC 148
December 9, 2014…………………… 5-6:30 p.m. ECV Rooker Fireside Lounge
