Summer is almost here and we’re looking forward to having you on campus!
This week, current residents will receive an email with summer housing information. In case you’re staying on campus instead of heading to the beach for the summer, we’ve pulled together the answers to some of the most common questions about summer housing. Dates, deadlines and other detailed information for summer sign-up are on the summer housing registration page of our website.
Here’s what you need to know about summer housing:
What kind of accommodations should I expect?
Summer residents should expect a double occupancy assignment (a room with a roommate) in Reed Hall.
Are single rooms available?
Reed Hall has only a few single rooms, so it’s most likely that you’ll have a roommate. Single rooms will be offered in the order that the summer sign-up forms are completed, beginning April 1. Check your email frequently on April 1 for the link to the form.
If I already live in Reed Hall can I have my same room?
In most cases we can offer the same room, however, some rooms may not be available for summer 2013. This is why it’s so important that you complete the summer housing sign-up by the priority consideration deadline of April 7. Housing assignments staff will let you know by April 12 if your specific room is available.
Can I live in East Campus Village during the summer?
Unfortunately, we’re not able to offer new assignments for summer semesters in East Campus Village. Residents of Building 1512, Rooker and Vandiver Halls in ECV are not required to take summer classes in order to remain in ECV. McWhorter residents may request summer housing in Reed Hall.
Do I have to be enrolled every session I want to live on campus in Reed Hall?
Yes. You must be enrolled in at least one hour per session. For example, if you want to stay in Reed for the extended session, you must be enrolled in at least one May session course and at least one thru session course (or, a combination of May + short I + short II).
But don’t worry, if you are not 100 percent certain which summer session you will take a class, feel free to request the longest session you are interested in and email firstname.lastname@example.org from your UGA email account asking to shorten your contract.
Can I complete the sign-up form for my friend?
No. Each student must complete an individual summer sign-up form. If your friend is not a spring on-campus resident, she or he must register for summer housing in The Dawg House.
Can I request a roommate?
Yes. You may indicate a roommate preference in the summer sign-up form. Be sure your roommate requests you on his/her form.
Do I pay anything now?
There is no housing registration or sign-up fee for summer. The first payment will be the rent payment due at the start of the summer session.
How much is rent?
Rates can be found on our website.
