Room Sign-Up FAQs

You’ve opted to participate in room sign-up… now what?

At this stage of the room sign-up process, students who requested to participate by the January 27th deadline have been notified of their standing via UGA email. We’ve received questions about what happens next in the room sign-up process. But don’t worry; our Housing Assignments Office has answered your top three frequently asked questions about room sign-up below.

Be sure to set your alarm for your room sign-up appointment
so that you can select the space you want!

When is my appointment time?

Students selected for round one must pay the $100 non-refundable sign-up fee by the February 10, 2013 deadline. University Housing will email appointment times and detailed instructions on how to select a space once payments are confirmed late-day February 11th.

What does it mean if I am on the waiting list?

Don’t worry!  Typically, we have several hundred students each year that indicate interest in room sign-up but do not pay the $100 sign-up fee. Therefore, during the early stages we are able to pull students off the waiting list just in time for round one. Each year we start with a waiting list, but are able to offer every student on the list a chance to select a space after round one. University Housing will be able to open additional spaces for subsequent rounds of sign-up in March and April.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment time?

Explore all the options University Housing has to offer and come up with a list of halls and rooms you are interested in. Go to the Tour the Halls section for hall descriptions, floor plans and photos.

The best aspect of the room sign-up process is that students have the opportunity to personally select spaces. In The Dawg House, each hall has a list of rooms (of your sex).  This list will look something like this:

The blank lines indicate rooms that are available to be selected.
You may reserve a space on any room with a blank line.  To reserve a space for a roommate, there must a blank line in the same room for them – you will have an option on the following screen to add in the roommate’s MyID as long as they are a participant in round one. Later, the roommate must log in at their appointment time and confirm the reservation.  We suggest that you prepare a list of possible room numbers you are interested in.
